In 1904 the city of Dania was incorporated. It was named after the 35 resident tomato farmers who were of Danish ancestry. It is one of the oldest cities in Broward County. In 1998, Dania officially became Dania Beach, but it is still known by its former name. Today's population is approximately 32,271. Also, it is not as famous for the tomatoes it produced. Once known as the "Tomato Capital of the World," it now touts itself as the "Antique Capital of the South" because it has become a popular place for antique lovers, and the Dania Beach Antique and Arts District
is the centerpiece.
Located along US-1, Dania Beach Antique and Arts District is loaded with galleries and antique shops showcasing furniture, jewelry, art, chandeliers, silver, and glassware. Once you have had your fair share of shopping, take a swim in the majestic water of Dania Beach. Also referred to as Ocean Beach, you can spend your time fishing on the pier or just sunbathing while relaxing on its gorgeous beachfront. For a full day of adventure take a trip to Tigertail Lake Recreational Center. Enjoy watersports like kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, windsurfing, and sailing. Even though it’s located on the campus of Broward College, these activities are open to the public. For a different kind of adventure and adrenaline rush, try your luck at the Casino at Dania Beach. Choose from over 750 slot machines, several electronic table games, or play various games in the card room. Check out the casino's great menu options. From fresh salads to delectable burgers and specialty items such as the Skirt Steak Churrasco, you are sure to keep having a great time while having the full casino experience.
At Mundi's Italian Restaurant, you can enjoy authentic Italian food from a family-run restaurant that goes back three generations. Enjoy favorites such as Pasta Anna, which combines fresh spinach and plum tomatoes over penne pasta, traditional spaghetti with meatballs, or Chicken Piccata. Tarks of Dania Beach is also a great option. Here you can enjoy bowls of fresh seafood such as crab legs, clams, shrimp, and oysters. They have been taking care of the locals since 1966. Historic Dockers Restaurant offers seafood favorites such as sautéed scallops, Mahi tacos, fried calamari, coconut shrimp, conch fritter, and more.
